"Whatever happens, never stop drawing," my professor said as he surveyed my final drawing projects. These were portraits of people made with charcoal and pencil.
"Is this your first art class?" he asked. "Yes," I replied. I was in the foundational drawing class, Observational Drawing.
“Never stop drawing, Never stop creating” Those words, simple yet profound, stuck with me.
Art has held my heart since childhood. Yet, growing up in a family of scientists in Russia, I never had the chance to fully explore that passion. It was only when I moved to the United States, pursuing Fashion Design at the Art Institute in San Diego, that I began to create more passionately.
Even as I built my successful fashion brand, Tatiana's Threads, a part of me felt unfulfilled, aching for the freedom to express without boundaries.
About a year ago, I found myself returning to art, slowly exploring my artistic side once again. It's funny how life circles back, how it took me a decade to rediscover a passion that had always been a part of me.
My most favorite topics to draw and paint are: faces, flowers and colorful abstract patterns.
You can see here two of my first art creations ever, I made a portrait of my sister and myself walking on a trail in Troodos Mountains in Cyprus, using charcoal for my first art class ever. They are not perfect whatsoever, but I was very proud of them then and I still love them 🙂
